Japan makes a protest stealthily

The following is from a Sankei News Web article HERE:

Japan made a protest to Korea about Takeshima (Dokdo) issue but stealthily; Japanese government did not announce it officially. 2009.2.27 17:37

Korea wrote that Japan's Takeshima as Korean territory in their "National Defence White Paper 2008 version" using a photo of Takeshima as its cover. Japanese governemnt made a protest to Korean governemnt through the Japanese embassy in Seoul and summoned the men in charge from the Korean embassy in Tokyo to make a protest. The protest was made on the 23rd when the white paper was published. However, Japanese government did not announce it officially so that it was not known to foreign people including Korean people at all

According to Japanese embassy, it was transmitted in Seoul to the Korean Ministry of Defence by a resident officer of Japan and in Tokyo a counselor of the Korean embassy was summoned and claimed. In September last year, Korean government summoned the Japanese minister to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce to claim about the same kind of problem concerning Japan's "National Defence White Paper", and they announced the official criticism to blame Japan.

As to the Takeshima (Dokdo) issue which is a territorial issue between Japan and Korea, Japanese government keeps not announcing the claims and criticism toward Korea not to stimulate Korean public opinions whilst Korean government is always announcing claims and criticism toward Japan.

  2. It's better than doing nothing, I guess. But if Sankei didn't repoted it, nobody didn't even notice. Or MOFA had leaked the news to them? Anyway, it's apparent that Japanese government has been keeping "promise - Takeshima Secret Pact", while Korean government neglects its obligation.

    1) One should understand another's claim to Dokdo/Takeshima and would not object to the refutation to the claims, 2) As to a future fishery zone, both of the countries draw the lines first including Dokdo/Takeshima into own territories, and then the duplicated area should be decided as a common zone, 3) Continue the status quo under Korea's occupation but Korea would not increase guards and would not build a new building or enlarge the building, 4) Both of the countries will keep the agreement continuously.

  3. Thanks Kaneganese, I agree with you.

And thre is one more important thing for Japan, Takeshima (Dokdo) was and is still Japan's territory. It was occupied by Korea unreasonably.

If Japan gave up to claim, it will be Korean territory in the future - but as far as Japan keeps claiming it won't be Korean territory forever under the international law.
