Has the Dokdo Guardian stopped guarding Dokdo?

I have noticed that all the files on the "Dokdo's Guardian (독도 수호지기)" web site have been deleted, which is a shame since the manager of that site had been doing a pretty good job of explaining my views to a Korean audience.

I did not know the manager personally, but he seemed to be quite knowlegable and was relatively conscientious when looking at the historical evidence, though his conclusions were often wrong.

I do not know why he deleted his site, but I have a feeling that he did so because he realized, or was told, that his site was hurting Korea's claim to Dokdo more than helping it. In other words, the best way to protect Korea's claim to Dokdo (Liancourt Rocks) is to keep people ignorant of the facts or provide them with only a censored view of the facts, but the Dokdo Guardian site was providing way too much information to help the Korean cause. For example, the Dokdo Guardian was posting maps and documents that people could actually read rather than posting unreadable, miniature versions.

Though the Dokdo Guardian was arguing for Korea's claim on Dokdo, by translating and posting a wide range of old documents related to the Dokdo/Takeshima debate, the Dokdo Guardian was inadvertently giving ordinary Koreans a relatively uncensored view of the historical documents. Any Korean curious enough to study those documents closely would have probably begun to question Korea's claims to Dokdo.

In my case, by allowing me to see the old documents and hear the Korean arguments related to those documents, the Dokdo Guardian helped me to realize that Korea's historical claims to Dokdo are nothing but smoke and mirrors, even though that was not the intention of the site.

I will miss the Dokdo Guardian.

  1. I can see the propaganda anti-japan website who are typical brainwashed Korean thinking.

Gerry I guess if you are ip blocked?
Or there are the possibility that they are under the server maintainance.

  2. GTOMR,

The HOME page of the site comes up, but the links take me nowhere. Have you clicked on any of the links?

  3. I think Hanmaumy's site was either hacked into or is undergoing maintenance. I think since the Dokdo Research Foundation started maybe they are helping him clean up his site better or maybe translate it?

Gerry, it's always funny to listen to your sanctimonious preaching about other Dokdo Takeshima bloggers. It's as if you think we really buy into your regurgitated posts from Japan's MOFA and Shimane Prefecture.

I've seen you get a new arse torn on other blogs enough to know your views aren't accepted outside this forum. Stop trying to pretend you are the moral authority on the Dokdo Takeshima dispute.
